Neurones IT Asia Secures First Government IT Contract in Singapore, Marking New Chapter in Public Sector

Major Milestone: Our First Government IT Project in Singapore
As a foreign company established in Singapore for over a decade, building strong relationships with local government agencies was essential to gaining recognition as a trusted local partner. While our roots are in Europe, our delivery capabilities are firmly anchored in Singapore, this milestone not only validates our commitment to the local ecosystem but also strengthens our appeal to both local enterprises and international organizations outside of Europe, who value our unique blend of French and Singaporean culture.
We are proud to have the opportunity to work with URA and hope this collaboration will open doors to other government agencies, allowing them to recognize our capabilities and the value we bring to public sector projects. This achievement marks an important step in our broader strategic shift to rebalance our business portfolio and grow our presence into Singapore’s public sector IT landscape where we aim to support the government digital initiatives.
Scope of the Project
URA awarded us a contract for the provision of manpower in the areas of software development, GIS development, and project management for a period of two years, with an optional one-year extension. This engagement marks a significant milestone in the growth of our consulting activities, enabling us to establish trust within the public sector as a foundation for expanding into other agencies and more outcome-based contracts.
This first collaboration serves as a valuable learning opportunity, allowing us to better understand public sector processes, expectations, constraints, and how they differ from those in the corporate world. By sharing these insights across our teams, we can refine our offerings and capabilities to better align with the unique needs of public sector clients in Singapore.
Meeting IT Compliance and Security Standards
One of the key lessons from working with the government has been the requirement for mandatory Security Screening Checks. Depending on the nature of the project and the level of access involved, our consultants must undergo varying levels of clearance. While the process is rigorous and time-consuming—designed to safeguard the public sector from foreign influence or individuals with questionable backgrounds—it reinforces the importance of trust and transparency. It has also helped us attract more local Singaporean talent, strengthening our roots in the local market.
In parallel, government agencies maintain strict standards for the terms of engagement. To ensure long-term commitment and accountability, they require private companies to meet specific financial criteria. These expectations align closely with our core value of accountability and reflect our dedication to delivering sustainable, high-quality services throughout the duration of our engagements.
Why This Matters: A Strategic Step into the Public Sector
Entering the public sector is a testament to a company’s long-term commitment and strategic vision for the country. Government agencies and local enterprises are built for the long haul, and they seek partners who share that same perspective. Being entrusted by the government validates our long-term investment in the Singapore market and reinforces our reputation as a reliable partner that other companies can confidently build upon.
While our broader mission is to expand our capabilities beyond Singapore, our core value of Proximity remains central to how we operate. Engaging the public sector with a close, collaborative approach is essential to building lasting relationships. In time, our strategy may also enable us to extend government technology capabilities to offshore locations—delivering value locally and regionally.
Next Steps in Public Sector Engagement
The public sector presents a unique set of challenges for several reasons. First, it is an open and highly competitive market where transparency is paramount and operational excellence is essential for long-term success. It also operates on its own rhythm, guided by long-term objectives rather than short-term urgency. Patience and a deep understanding of the sector’s goals are critical to unlocking its potential.
In Singapore, the government is the largest consumer of IT services, with some of the highest expectations—serving a highly connected and digitally savvy population. The opportunities for growth in the public sector are substantial, and we are committed to continuing our investment in this space. We strongly believe in the value of public-private partnerships and the impact they can deliver for the nation.
