Project Overview and Objectives

Neurones IT Asia was engaged by ESSEC Business School to lead a targeted refresh of its wireless infrastructure at the Singapore campus. The scope included a full site audit, deployment of the latest Cisco Meraki Wi-Fi access points, relocation of certain APs for optimized coverage, and the setup of a centralized Meraki dashboard for network monitoring and management.

ESSEC’s key objectives were to modernize its network infrastructure, improve Wi-Fi performance and reliability, enhance security, simplify administration, and gain real-time visibility and control over network usage. This upgrade aligns with ESSEC’s broader campus modernization strategy, which aims to deliver a more connected, secure, and digitally enabled learning environment. The new network infrastructure sets the foundation for smart campus initiatives and supports hybrid learning, increased device usage, and growing digital workloads.

Technical Deployment

The project began with an on-site audit to assess current access point placement, signal strength, and user coverage as well as understanding the customer specificities. Based on the findings, Neurones IT Asia provided a detailed recommendation report outlining optimal AP relocation and the deployment of newer Meraki models.

Installation was carried out in coordination with campus operations to avoid disruption, with work scheduled outside of peak usage hours. Several access points were repositioned to reduce signal overlap and dead zones, improving performance and user experience, and new ones were deployed to cover specific outdoor areas.

A centralized Meraki dashboard was also configured, providing ESSEC’s IT team with enhanced visibility and control over the wireless network, including usage metrics, device monitoring, and policy enforcement.

The deployment required careful coordination to ensure smooth transition, and was completed on time with minimal disruption, setting the stage for improved network reliability and manageability.

Benefits and Improvements

Following the refresh, ESSEC has seen a noticeable improvement in Wi-Fi coverage and stability across key areas of the campus. Optimized AP placement has eliminated previous dead spots and improved performance in high-density zones.

The centralized Meraki dashboard has empowered the IT team with real-time visibility, easier device tracking, and quicker diagnostics. These improvements have significantly reduced user complaints and support tickets related to connectivity.

Overall, the project has delivered a smarter, more responsive wireless environment that supports modern learning and administrative needs, while giving ESSEC a scalable foundation for future network enhancements.
