From managing vendor accounts to supporting finance operations across Singapore and India, Sheena plays a vital role in driving accuracy, timeliness, and efficiency at Neurones IT Asia. With a strong grasp of both regional processes and internal coordination, she ensures smooth financial workflows across the board. In this article, Sheena shares her journey in finance and admin—and how she stays focused, adaptable, and aligned with business goals.

How has your experience at Neurones IT Asia influenced your professional growth?

While I have covered different scopes in Finance in previous roles, due to the nature of the business, I specialized on a singular scope in each role i.e. AP, AR etc.  At NITA, my role was to carry out different scopes concurrently allowing me to utilize the different skillsets I have amassed. That said, with NITA having a unique organizational structure, new knowledge is continuously learned as I delve deeper into my role. I now have a broader view on what Finance encompasses, giving much insight into the direction I could work towards in the future.

How would you describe the working culture at Neurones IT Asia, and what do you appreciate most about it?

There is a strong emphasis on autonomy with regards to work. Considering the scale of operations, it is undoubtedly the most efficient way. Despite that, there is ample opportunity for intra- and inter-department communication and the work is closely tied to each other. I appreciate that my colleagues, even those located overseas, are approachable enough for me to not hesitate to ask questions when needed.

What advice would you give someone looking to grow their career in finance and administration?

Those new to the workforce would probably be unaware of the variety of paths to pursue within Finance and Administration. For such individuals, I would highly recommend finding a role that would allow one to experience as many scopes as possible. This would allow them to efficiently narrow down on the specialization they wish to pursue long term. Even if their first role does not lead to clarity on what to pursue, it would have shown them what they should not pursue further. For those who are years on their journey and remain undecided, I encourage them to continue seeking new experiences and/or continue further learning externally to help guide themselves in the right direction.

What’s your ideal weekend?

After sleeping in, walking out to the stunning sea in front of me and taking in the sea breeze. Feeling the sun on my skin. Watching the waves crash against the shore. Leisurely lunch with delicious sandwiches and tea. Visiting a nature reserve where animals can roam (relatively) freely. Feeling the weight lift off my shoulders. Delicious dinner with a night stroll in the cool breeze. Back home to a long soak in a hot bath, good read in hand. Finally, ending it off with a deep sleep.
